ORC57#4: Soon in the mold!

The production of the 4th hull of the ORC57 is about to start. That’s the first unit of this model being sold since Grand Large Yachting acquired the ORC brand.

While the options selection is currently finalized, the supply chain is working hard to provision all the materials that will be used during the 9-month long building process. Teams are ready, timelines are fine-tuned. This is an exciting story that we would like to share with you, step by step, stage by stage, with pictures and videos.

The first shooting today shows the gigantic mold. It will be waxed next week, before receiving the first gelcoat layers.

By the way, if you’re interested into our building techniques, feel free to contact us and we will arrange a private visit of our shipyard.

See you soon!

Fair winds,

The ORC team

10 years old, sailing at 20 knots…on a wakeboard !

Remember last week we shared the video of this young captain at the helm of his father’s ORC50 and many of you commented it.

Is a lifejacket mandatory when at the helm? At what age should it be mandatory? At what speed? Can one live happily on a boat without wearing a lifejacket?

Many questions to which we will not bring an answer today, our motivation just being to share the extraordinary moments our clients live on board their ORC.

Yes, safety on board is a serious topic, but it is under the sole skipper’s responsibility.

Anyway, back to the point, yes, it is possible to do wakeboard behind by an ORC, and it looks cool!

Splashing next!

Time flies and weeks elapse! This hull #25 is now starting to look like a great ORC50 and is about to splash soon.

She will receive in the coming days her carbon cross and a few additional equipment.

Under the plastic protection hides a 4-cabin version: just like the 50#24, this one has also been purchased by two couples of friends who united their forces to sail together.

That’s the biggest benefit of this layout: each owner has his aft cabin in his own dedicated hull and can accommodate kids or a couple of friends in the fore cabin. Each hull has its bathroom with a separate shower.

We’ll update you soon about this boat before she splashes, as well as about her navigation program. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, should you have any question about your future ORC50’s configuration and possible layouts, do not hesitate to contact us.

Fair winds,
The ORC Team

The talent behind our know-how

Individual and collective, our teams’ talent is paramount to the quality of the boats leaving our workshops.
On this picture, our teams are clothed with a t-shirt, featuring the ORC57#3 AVEL VAEZ.
Courtesy of her owner, to thank them for their commitment and professionalism.

A great opportunity to remind that our boats are the fruit of a shared effort, and that our know-how relies more than ever on men and women, gifted with a rare skillset.

We’ll soon have more to show about these gestures and techniques, with a dedicated web-series this summer.

Stay tuned!

Here is a short video, shared by one of our customers, who had the brilliant idea of giving the helm of his ORC50 to his son!

Look at this smile…and think about the memory that this future Captain will keep of this moment!

But the most striking thing about this video is the speed at which the catamaran is sailing. At 20 knots, she cuts through the waves with remarkable power and stability. This performance is made possible by the slim, lightweight design of ORC catamarans, and their high-performance propulsion system.

In this video, he appears to sail with natural ease. He manoeuvres the tiller with precision, never hesitating. This ease of use is due to the intelligent design of ORC catamarans, which are intuitive to handle and accessible to everyone, whatever their sailing experience.
